Welcome

The Buchanan Brothers Memorial Fund is a charitable fund-raising organization established to memorialize the lives of two brothers, Brandon and Cameron Buchanan, who lost their lives, tragically, in two unrelated fatal events. An inaugural 5k race and fun walk has been organized by friends, neighbors, family and co-workers of the Buchanan family to remember these two wonderful young men who were loved, admired, and respected by hundreds of people whose hearts ache for them everyday.

It is the committee's intent that this 5k run will be a forum for participants, volunteers, and observers to remember Brandon and Cameron, celebrate their lives, and help raise funds for two educational scholarships that were created in their names. The 5k run/walk will be held at 9:00 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Honeoye Falls-Lima High School in Honeoye Falls, NY.

Brandon John Buchanan Memorial Scholarship Fund

Brandon was working at Cantor Fitzgerald in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 when he lost his life, with nearly 3,000 others, in the WTC during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Brandon's family established the Brandon J. Buchanan Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Vermont to provide scholarship assistance to outstanding Business majors with the hope that Brandon will not be forgotten and that his legacy of love, light and laughter will live on. Brandon graduated from McQuaid High School in 1995. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont, with a Business degree, in the Class of 1999. This fund will help others pursue their aspirations while remembering Brandon's passion for life and providing hope for the future.

Buchanan Brothers Memorial Run Scholarship Fund

After the terrible event that took Cameron's life as a back seat passenger in an off-road vehicle accident on Saturday, July 21, 2007, the Buchanan Brothers Memorial Run Scholarship Fund was established. This award is earmarked for Honeoye Falls-Lima graduating seniors who best exemplify Cameron's unique personality traits and who value peace, unity and love. This award is given annually to that special individual who best embodies and displays a caring for people and the love of life that characterized Cameron's gifts to all. Peace, Unity, and Love (P.U.L.) was Cameron's personal motto, coined for the way he lived his life. Cameron graduated from HF-L in 2006 and he had completed the freshman year of study at the University of Vermont.
